SANDY

What’s your occupation?
I’m an actress. And I have a fashion past. I used to be in the fashion industry for many years.

What did you do?
Everything. Designing, buying, merchandising…

What did you like about it?
I love fashion. It’s one of those things I’ve loved since I was a kid. I was just searching for more of a creative outlet, something more to do with my voice, so I fell into acting.

How is the acting going?
Acting is going good. Keeping busy. My latest film was at Cannes Film Festival, which was very cool. The film is called 2:22, and it’s a heist film. And, yeah, (acting is) going good.

Let me ask you about your style. How would you describe it?
I love high-end meets low-end. I love pairing up something really expensive and designer with something super dirt cheap, like $9 dollar shoes at a vintage store. I really like to mix it up and make it my own, and I love, love, love vintage, but not solely vintage. Just totally mix it up with something new, so you don’t look too grungy while doing it.

Where do you get your style influences?

Oh god, just… the streets. Um, I don’t know, it’s just my personal thing. Magazines, people who inspire you, old celebrities, old stars… I love Audrey Hepburn. I just kind of pick it up as I go. I make it up.

Anything you’re wearing now that you like and can tell me about?

I love my boots. My cowboy boots. I got these in Rome, Italy, so they’re my best find, and I love them. I love them because I can wear them all year round — hot, cold, it doesn’t matter. And I love my bangles, just because they’re vintage. But for me, it’s my boots.

What are your interests?
I love travel. I love fashion. I love, obviously, the arts. I love anything creative. I love yoga. Just living my life.

What do you think is the next big thing in fashion?
I hope it really, really returns to something of an old Hollywood kind of thing, but not done in a way where it’s so retro, but just clean and sophisticated. Think Grace Kelly, think Audrey Hepburn — that kind of return to being a woman, and elegant, and pretty. A little bit more of that.

Is there anything you would never wear?
Those sandals — Crocs. I hate them. God help me, I hate Crocs. Those are just awful. Never.

What do you want to do in the future?
I just hope to be chugging away with my acting and making a mark on the world through that — expressing myself through that, and fashion. It’s all personal expression. Anything creative. So, fashion and acting.
